How we work

From the first game at school to a place on a club team

Three steps, the same in every country, and the program our volunteers and interns work in.

The program

Three steps, in every country

1. School program

Sports during school hours, on site, often together with the teacher and always with our own permanent team. From kindergarten to high school.

2. Neighborhood projects

Weekday afternoons after school, on fields, squares and in the neighborhood. Free, no sign-up, and this is where kids choose their own sport.

3. Clubs and progression

Whoever wants more moves on to a club. If there is none, we start one ourselves, so kids can play matches for free.

Impact report

We count what we do

Every year we publish an impact report: how many kids we reach, which phase of the program they are in and what the projects in each country delivered. Not just numbers, but also what worked and what did not. The foundation also publishes its annual report and policy plan.

Honest about money

Why do you pay to volunteer?

You do not pay to be allowed to help. You pay for your own stay, so the project does not have to.

Where your money goes

Your contribution covers your housing, the support on site and the preparation before you leave. The projects do not have those resources and should not have to raise them for you.

Safety is not a line to cut

Wherever you go, you stay in housing we know and have checked ourselves. A long stretch far from home needs a place where you sleep well.

As low as it can be

Many of our participants are students. We keep the price as close to the real cost as possible and are happy to be compared with other providers.

The real question is not what it costs, but what you get back: an experience you benefit from for the rest of your life, and a program that keeps running after you go home.

Why four weeks minimum

Shorter trips help the visitor, not the kids

The first week goes to arriving, learning the area and settling into the group. Only then do the kids recognize you, do you know how a practice runs there, and can you really add something. For a kid who looks forward to your practice every week, a volunteer who disappears after ten days is not help but a disappointment. Four weeks is the minimum where it works, and almost every participant says afterwards that it clicked in week two or three.

The Power of Sports

Volunteer Aware

Honest volunteering, not voluntourism

We are a founding member of Volunteer Aware, a platform that reviews organizations offering volunteering and internships abroad on sustainability, transparency, ethics and intercultural responsibility. Good intentions alone are not enough; the label shows how we work.
